Company personnel

Stelios Mores. Over 10 years experience with the Accelerating Rate Calorimeter.

Stelios gained his PhD (Chemical Engineering) from the South Bank University in London. SBU is the UK's foremost university for research into Chemical Reaction Hazards. During that time and subsequently he has been involved with safety calorimetry and the Accelerating Rate Calorimeter. Stelios formed THT in 1994. Stelios was the key person behind the re-engineering of the Accelerating Rate Calorimeter, both hardware design and engineering and software development. Stelios has published widely in the area of thermal safety and given presentations at various International Conferences, he has traveled around the world installing instruments and advising clients. Stelios is Technical Director of THT.

Martyn Ottaway. Over 15 years experience with the Accelerating Rate Calorimeter.

Martyn gained his PhD (Chemistry) at the University of Wales (Swansea) and has spent his entire career involved with calorimetry. From 1974-1983 he was with Stanton Redcroft, the UK manufacturer of Thermal Analysis instruments. In 1983 he established the International Office of Columbia Scientific Industries (CSI) in England. He worked for CSI until 1994, when the new owners wanted to implement major changes. At this time Martyn negotiated an independent office in England continuing the CSI business. Heath Scientific Co Ltd was formed in 1994. But due to changes made in the US, the relationship did not last. In 1998 Heath Scientific merged with THT and Martyn again has responsibility for sales and technical matters. Martyn has published articles, given lectures, and made technical visits in all parts of the world over the past 25 years. Martyn is General Manager of THT.

Martyn's knowledge or experience with the Accelerating Rate Calorimeter can be said to go back 25 years. In 1975 he was Senior Scientist at Stanton Redcroft and assisted Dow and the UK Health and Safety Executive in data analysis from DSC and Accelerating Rate Calorimeter during an incident investigation at a time before the technique was commercialised.

Phill O'Kane. Over 10 years experience with the Accelerating Rate Calorimeter.

Phill gained his BSc (Biological Sciences) from the University of Luton and has spent most of his career in Calorimetry. Phill joined Columbia Scientific in England in 1990. He was a co-founder of Heath Scientific. From 1991 Phill has built up considerable sales and technical experience with the technology. Phill himself has travelled widely within his sales and technical role. Phill is Sales Manager of Heath Scientific and has sales responsibilities with THT.

Ed Price.

Ed has been with THT for 4 years after completing his PhD studies at the South Bank University in London. Thrown in at the deep end Ed has responsibility for manufacturing and for the continuing development of THT products.

Gail Impey.

Gail joined Columbia Scientific in 1992; she went with Martyn and Phill to Heath Scientific in 1994. Gail is the office interface for both Heath Scientific and THT.

Patrick Sears.

Patrick joined THT having previously been a THT-ARC user with the Thermal Hazards group at Rhodia CSD, Oldbury. He has responsibility for ARC sample testing, training, installation as well as supporting the sales and marketing teams.

Previously Patrick has worked at the University of Hull under Prof. Blackmond using small scale reaction calorimetry for detailed analysis of reaction kinetics.
